Daniel Yang, Violin
Daniel Yang is a violinist recognized for his expressive musicianship and versatility as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative artist. A 1st prize winner of the NTHU Concerto Competition, he has appeared as a soloist with MusicaNova Orchestra and has performed major concerto repertoire including the Brahms Double Concerto at Katzin Concert Hall, Shostakovich Violin Concerto No. 1 with the NTHU Orchestra, and Vivaldi RV 580 with the Music & More Festival in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
He is the recipient of First Prize in the Prague National Music Competition and Third Prize in the Taiwan National Student Competition of Music. His international engagements include performances with the Music & More Festival (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Camerata Franconia (Germany), and appearances in the United States across New York City, Arizona, California, and Vermont.
An active orchestral musician, Daniel has served as Concertmaster of MusicaNova Orchestra, the Music & More SummerFest Orchestra, and Arizona State University ensembles, as well as other regional ensembles. His artistic work extends across a wide range of genres, including chamber music, symphonic repertoire, musical theater productions, and cross-genre collaborations.
A passionate chamber musician, Daniel has performed an extensive repertoire spanning works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Dvořák, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Franck, Debussy, Ravel, Strauss, Poulenc, Bartók, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Khachaturian, Lutosławski, Martinů, Granados, Chen Yi. He is particularly recognized for his performance of Strauss’s Violin Sonata at the An Evening of Music concert series in Arizona (2022).
Daniel has participated in major international festivals including Music & More (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Montecito International Music Festival (California), Taconic Music Festival (Vermont), and InterHarmony International Music Festival (Italy). He has also served as a violinist at the Southern Vermont Arts Center Music Camp.
As a dedicated educator, Daniel maintains a private studio with students actively participating in ensembles such as the Metropolitan Youth Symphony. He is also active as a freelance performer, appearing in concert series including Candlelight Concerts, Erimos Quartet, and Listeso Music Group.
Originally from Taiwan, Daniel made his orchestral debut at age thirteen with the Yuanlin Philharmonic and later performed with the Taiwan Sycamore Camerata. His artistic work is further informed by his research on contemporary Taiwanese violin repertoire, culminating in his published doctoral research, A Performance Guide to Fan-Ling Su’s Hymn of the Nine Ruyis and Lion Dance : Context, Analysis, and Interpretation of Contemporary Taiwanese Violin Works.
He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance from Arizona State University.
